R.I.P. Michael Stanley Long Live the Park Girls

It’s funny how losing a singer who you grew up with makes you reflect on the moments their songs gave you.

Michael Stanley Band for many of us wrote the soundtrack of our youth in North East Ohio. For those of our readers who are too young, go find MBS now and learn to sing along. For the Park Girls reading this…. I have a million memories of us singing together. Rollerskating to MSB at Chicago, hanging out at your houses watching MTV (when it was fresh and edgy) and when we were older seeing MSB in concert. Those memories are happy places I visit when thinking of you and how lucky we were to have each other. I’m thankful to MSB -like I’m thankful for the man who drew the white lines on the highway- for the sing-alongs we shared.

No matter how old we get or how different we turned out, today we are all still Park Girls and should take a few minutes to listen to some MSB and remember where we came from. Remember all the adventures. Remember when the park was the center of our universe. There are days I wish we could go back there just… one more time.

Rest in peace Michael. Thank you for the memories.

I love you all and I think of you everytime MBS comes on. I crank up the volume singing in my car at the top of my lungs, which I will never be to old to do.Â
